Chairwork Psychotherapy is centered on the belief that there is a healing and transformative power in: (1) Giving voice to one’s inner parts, modes, and selves; and (2) engaging with and reworking difficult narratives or memories; and (3) Enacting or re-enacting scenes from the Past, the Present, or the Future. In 2018, we discovered the Four Dialogue Matrix – which is a crystallization of over 50 years of Chairwork practice and exploration; it is now the foundation of the approach. Chairwork Psychotherapy is informed by the traditions of Gestalt Therapy, Psychodrama, Schema Therapy, and a range of other integrative psychotherapies.

The CPI Online Workshop is designed to introduce therapists to the basics of Chairwork, in an active and compelling manner using clinical storytelling, group practice, and unrehearsed, live clinical demonstrations. In this two-day online workshop we will explore the use of dialogue strategies for these common dilemmas: decision-making, difficult or toxic relationships, and unresolved or disowned experiences.

We will outline a simple and readily applicable method to facilitate decision-making processes that helps individuals move out of confusion and into clarity about their values and desires. We will review a clear dialogue strategy to support patients struggling with difficult and complicated relationships, whether those are present-day challenges or past experiences of loss. We will also introduce a powerful method of working with any unintegrated story, including traumatic memories and disowned successes.

Participants will gain immediately applicable and straightforward skills that they may use to improve their clinical practice and overcome clinical challenges and stagnation.
