Chairwork for Trauma and the Inner Critic: A One-Day Intensive
Chairwork for Trauma and the Inner Critic: A One-Day Intensive
Working with trauma and self-hatred can be challenging and, at times, overwhelming for many clinicians. Chairwork, an experiential method experiencing a global renaissance, offers a powerful and dynamic approach for trauma survivors. Clients can engage more deeply with their emotions, build inner stability, and experience genuine breakthroughs
and lasting recovery. The Chairwork Psychotherapy Initiative's one-day workshop, "Chairwork for Trauma and the Inner Critic: A One-Day Intensive,” will give participants readily applicable experiential techniques to treat even the most difficult cases involving trauma and self-hatred. In this experiential workshop we will explore the use of dialogue strategies for these common dilemmas: traumatic memories, self-hatred, inner complexity, and development of self-compassion. This workshop will also introduce participants to our "Two Critics Model," a way of understanding these critics as an internalization of social and familial messages (Internalized Abuser) and the other understanding the Critic as developing early in childhood as a strategy for survival (Protector Critic).
Participants will learn how to practice Chairwork via clinical storytelling, unrehearsed, live clinical demonstrations, and group practice.
5 CEs available. This event is intended for behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and MFT's. Grad students and interns are also welcome.
